A dream come true

Jake has been wanting this horse for 2 years. Every Christmas this horse comes out in the stores and is $200. We always say no of course. Well, Jake had saved up $100 from Christmas presents and allowance. We went to Target last night with his wallet in hand. He was insistent he was going to buy this horse. On the way there I told him it was $200 and they probably didn't have any left. Well, they had one left and it was 50% off. Above is just about the look on his face when he found out it was only $100 and he could afford it. For the first time ever he was happy to hand the cashier his money. If you've read the blog below, you know he doesn't like to part with anything (including money). His official name is Cheyenne Brownie Smore Eustice. He is 3 feet tall, hold up to 80lbs, eats carrots, neighs, moves his head, ears, neck, tail and sniffs you.

Jake's Peculiarities

I was reminded today of one of Jake's peculiarities. He lost his 7th tooth today. Most kids can't wait to loose a tooth, so they can get money from the tooth fairy. Not Jake, he wants to hold on to everything forever. The first tooth he ever lost he cried and cried, because he wanted it to stay in his mouth forever. We tried to cheer him up by telling him the tooth fairy would come and leave him money for it. That sent him over the edge, there was no way he was going to let the tooth fairy have his tooth. I had to do some quick thinking. So, for every tooth he has lost we have had to leave a note for the tooth fairy asking her to please leave the tooth. Jake reminded me we had to write a note the minute he lost his tooth today.
The teeth aren't even the best example I have of how he won't get rid of anything. I realized it was a real problem when he was about 4. He was getting ready for bed and he had some thread hanging from his pj's. Without saying anything I yanked it off. His eyes got big and he grabbed my hand to see it the string was in it. Then he burst into tears and asked why I did that. Seriously, we had to keep the piece of string for weeks, until he forgot about it. He still won't let me pull any loose threads, so if you see any one him, don't be tempted. Just tell me about it and I'll get them when I do laundry.
My goodness, he has a rough life ahead.

Jakeisms

Jake has words or phrases that he makes up from time to time. He will use them so much that Matt and I start thinking they are real words. His latest word has everyone laughing when he says it, because it comes out of the blue and sounds so funny. I will break the word down for you.... buy-one-crack-a-dawng. He says this as one whole word, with a bit of a twang. I asked him what it meant and he said I don't know? The funniest part is he even has Matt and his cousin Lindsey saying it.
His new phrase for the month is "out of the heck of know where." Let me tell you things have been coming "out of the heck of know where" a lot lately.
