What Jake is thankful for.......Chilly

Just had to share these pictures. Jake asked me to take a picture of him and Chilly on Thanksgiving. He said they had been working on a pose. The first one shows how just about every morning goes. Chilly likes to be pet, hugged or cuddled first thing in the morning. He will calmly go and sit, stand or lay right next to Jake until Jake does one of the above. P.S. you can really see his crooked nose in the second picture.

It's just my style

Jake got his progress report this week. For the first time he got an 'N' (meaning needs improvement) on something. It was on turning in neat work. Now he has been warned by his teacher about this and we've been working on it at home. However when he is in class he is in such a hurry his handwriting gets sloppy. So I had to have a talk with him, since now we have an 'N'. I told he needs to slow down and write neater, that he got an 'N' for his handwriting. He said "Oh mom, it's just my style. I mean everybody has a different style of handwriting, it's ok." I said "sloppy is not a style and you need to work on your neatness." He said "Look your handwriting is different, dad's handwriting is different and my handwriting is different, it doesn't make it bad just because it is different."
Where does he come up with these things! I know doctors have bad handwriting, but do lawyers, because this kid can argue his way out of anything!

Cowboy, yet again.

Jake was a cowboy for Halloween again this year. This is his 3rd time being a cowboy. Last year I talked him into trying something different. But this year he was insistent. It was actually nice, because I didn't have to buy anything. As many of you know, Jake's only aspiration in life is to be a cowboy/farmer some day. His room is cowboy theme from ceiling to floor. We went to mema and papa's for BBQ and then went trick or treating (or cher-i-creet, as Jake wrote in his journal) in their neighborhood. We stopped at one house on my mom's block and who opened the door? Jake's teacher, Mrs. Fox. He was so excited, we never knew she lived on the same street as mema and papa. That was the highlight of his evening.
